Grief doesn’t always arrive with sound.
Sometimes it circles overhead—
weightless, watchful,
like the birds
who never seem to leave.
Some say they are angels,
but I think they are memory,
fluttering in the margins of stone & sky,
reminding us
that even in mourning
there are things that still know how to return.
The wall does not speak,
but it listens.
To silence, to longing,
to the rustle of wings
that have never forgotten
how to find their way home. 🕊️
" The Birds Are Home Too" was painted during the Three Weeks, a time of mourning in the Jewish calendar. A futuristic painting of sorts, alluding to Messianic times where Jerusalem is restored to its full glory.
